Only 55 years ago women were not allowed to compete in the same marathons as men. So when Michelob ULTRA asked us to promote The Run Fund, an initiative that would help reach equal marathon participation by 2023, we knew 55 years ago is exactly where we should start. Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to officially cross the finish line of a marathon, even after a man tried to push her from the race at mile four. We realized that we could give her story a new life by re-examining the photo that made her famous, taken in 1967, with a completely modern technique. The two worlds come together in this film that shines a light on the sport’s past and celebrates its future.
